The Illuminated Theater
About the Illuminated Theater
The Illuminated Theater, based in San Francisco, is dedicated to making theater and live performance events so exciting and fun that you’d rather see them than go to a movie, play Xbox, or a rock concert. By creating events that take place in non-traditional settings, such as a bar or right on the street, performance becomes relevant and accessible to a wide demographic. We focus on projects relating to current issues of the day, that need to be talked about.  Our primary audience is Generation X and Y audiences of all ethnicities and socio-economic brackets. By making excerpts of the shows accessible on YouTube, we also aim to share these dynamic experiences with a much larger audience.

Other Projects of the Illuminated Theater
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT creates site-specific theater with messages around social issues of the day. These physically ensemble-created, brief works take place in public areas, often bringing theater to unsuspecting audiences.
The first full-length show of PSA, “Comedy and Justice for All,” took place in September, 2009 in association with the San Francisco Fringe Festival. Reviews can be f
ound here. PSA will resume in late summer/fall of 2010.
